Mountain light is at its best very early in the morning. Usually, the sky is still crispy, and the sunlight is nicely soft. This photograph of a sunrise in the Italian Alps is a great example. A very early rise and ascent preceded this capture. Being somewhere at the right time makes landscape photography both challenging and rewarding.
This Italian landscape photograph features a high alpine meadow with rocks and a mountain creek running down from it. In the back, you see the mountains of the Italian Alps. The dominant mountain peak in the background is the Pointe de DrĂ´ne. This is a mountain of the Pennine Alps and lies on the border between Italy and Switzerland just west of the Great St. Bernard Pass. It has an elevation of 2,950 metres (9,680 ft). The climb towards the viewpoint in this photograph starts in the Aosta Valley in Ital. It takes you across the border to the Lacs de FenĂªtre in the Swiss Canton of Valais. This mountain tour is highly recommended!
